Counseling Approach

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”  Marianne Williamson

My Counseling Approach

At the heart of my counseling practice is my desire to help you live your best life. To become clearer about what is important and meaningful to you, and to live from your own core beliefs, rather than from what others may have told you about yourself along the way.

I am committed to working deeply and gently with your story and life issues.  I choose theoretical approaches that will address your unique needs, and we create your treatment plan together, carefully identifying your goals for therapy.  I have sought out training to create an expansive therapeutic toolkit, including cognitive behavioral, relational, and mind-body modalities.  I am excited about the growing research in neuroscience, demonstrating how our brains hold trauma from our past and how, with therapeutic intervention,  we can create new and healthier neural networks.

My advanced training in EMDR and Lifespan Integration directly targets childhood trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, and varying attachment styles.  I am a certified childrens’ mental health specialist, and I regularly work with children, adolescents, and their families to improve behavioral issues and decrease anxiety and depression.  I have a specialty in parent coaching, where I focus on increasing the parent-child bond, improving child’s  self-esteem and decreasing behavioral issues.

I am credentialed in Washington to supervise licensure candidates.

If you believe that my training and credentials might be a good fit for your needs, I encourage you to contact me.

Warmly,

Caroline Plummer  M.S., LMHC
